Our original plan was to have one additional day cruising but we decided to adjust our plan to subtract the very last day. So, this day was our last of the trip. As a result, on this day we went 70 plus miles from Clewiston all the way into Jensen Beach. To do so, we had to leave before dawn and in the dark. I tried to take a picture but it just didn’t show enough.
Besides, I was very busy illuminating the markers using our hand-held spotlight and guiding us through the channel until the sun decided to finally come up. In addition to this, of course, Bruce had radar to confirm marker positioning but we were more comfortable having true visual if at all possible. We did just fine but the Lake was not pleasant that day. She was angry with someone for sure. As we progressed across the lake, the 2’ waves grew to 6’. It was a long 2.5 hours through the lake. It was easier with the sun up but it was a lot of rockin’ and rollin’. The wind was 25-30 mph and on the beam (across the port side). It was not the greatest way to start a long day of cruising even if it was our last one.
Here we are transiting the St Lucie lock. It was a 14’ drop.
